9 Reasons People Cheat

Why do I find it so easy not to cheat?

Maybe I'm not very attractive, so my options are limited. Maybe I'm too jaded to go for the cheating opportunities. Maybe I still have some mental wounds lingering from when my dad temporarily moved out because he had met another woman. Maybe I'm too afraid that I've reached my sin quotient and one more big sin will keep me out of heaven.

Cheating is not a caught in the moment thing if you are really into your significant other, you miss them when you are not with them, you don't look for a way to hurt or deceive them.

I am just now patching up a friendship with someone I was seeing while they had a boyfriend (that may make me a cheater). At different points she told me that she had broken up with her boyfriend, that they were back together, and that he was boring and I was fun. It was total confusion.

I told her she wasn't being fair to herself, me, or him.

Finally, she said, "you just don't understand, there are things you don't know." Thing is she's been cheating on him for a couple of years with different guys, and he keeps taking her back.

So, are cheaters born cheaters, or do certain situations cause people to cheat? Probably a little bit of both. Here are some situations that make people cheat:

1. Bored
I'd say this is the most common reason that people cheat. It's tough to keep that edge throughout a relationship. Things start off grand and then level off and then you both realize that it's still real life. When you meet someone else, that inaugural excitement of a new relationship kicks back in.

2. Dependence
At first glance, cheating seems like independent behavior. It could be interpreted as doing what you want, when you want. But I would argue that cheating is a dependent behavior. A cheater is dependent because they are not strong enough to break up with their significant other in order to get with the new person.

3. Confusion
Sometimes life or a particular situation can get to you. When the perfect storm of confusion is going on in your head, you make mistakes.

4. Because They Let You
If any girl ever cheated on me, I'd break up with her immediately. Forgiving a cheater is putting up with it, and starts a vicious cycle. That person who cheated may lose respect for you and might continue to cheat-because they know they can get away with it, because you'll continue to take them back.

5. Nurturing
If someone is mistreating you, then your first instinct is to get away from him or her. But sometimes it's not that simple-maybe you are raising kids together. If you feel trapped in a bad relationship, it's only natural that you will run to the open arms of a person who treats you well.

6. Revenge
This is quite simple- an eye for an eye. Cheat on them if they cheat on you. If they continuously hurt you or abuse you in some way, you do it to get them back.

7. Confirmation of Attractiveness
Sometimes when you're in a long relationship, or if your significant other is taking you for granted, you begin to wonder if you're still attractive. Perhaps, because you were out on the dating circuit, you felt more attractive when you were single. If you have an affair, you've proven that a new person can be attracted to you.

8. The Thrill
Some people just enjoy the thrill of cheating: running around secretly, risking getting caught, andcreating thrilling moments with a forbidden romance.

9. They Don't Consider It Cheating, Even Though You Might
Relationships have that grey area, usually right before you become exclusive. He thinks date #4 is when you're "together," and you think date #2 is when you're "together." If you haven't talked about exclusivity, someone may think they are well within their rights to see other people, even though the other person in the relationship may not.

I don't understand why people don't break up as soon as they have an urge to cheat. Is it natural to have temptation, or is temptation a sign that the relationship is losing its fire? What reasons would you add to this list, and do you disagree with any? If you've ever cheated, why did you do it? Could you forgive a cheater? If you are single, but seeing a person who is in a committed relationship, does that make you a cheater?

I'll never leave Barca vows Messi

Lionel Messi has said he would never leave Barcelona amid curious speculation Real Madrid want to sign the Argentine Wunderkind from their arch rivals.
Reports from Madrid suggested champions Real were preparing a sensational swoop but Messi laughed off the talk and pledged his future to Barcelona.

"I'll never leave Barca," the 21-year-old Messi told the club's official website. "I'll only leave if they throw me out. Barcelona is my home."

Messi is unlikely to be thrown out having scored 14 goals this season, including two in Saturday's 4-1 win over Numanica, as Barca sit 15 points clear of Real at the top of the Spanish first division.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta hit out at Real for using the media to try and unsettle the league leaders.

"They (Real Madrid) are relying on biased mass media institutions to spread these rumours," said Laporta. "It is an attempt to unsettle us and cover up their own problems.

"The most important thing is that he (Messi) is happy here, this is where he has grown up, and he is showing this with his performances."

Lily Allen's age concern

Lily Allen has split with her new boyfriend.
The 23-year-old singer has ended her brief romance with 45-year-old Jay Jopling because of the huge age gap and work pressures.
A source close to Lily - who was recently seen embracing the art dealer while on holiday in the Caribbean - said: 'It was Lily's decision to split as she'll be away on tour a lot this year and wouldn't have seen Jay much.
'She also felt the age difference was too big. She thought both her and his friends disapproved and her dad Keith wasn't happy.'
Despite the singer being seen on several occasions sporting a band on her ring finger, friends of Lily insist the relationship, which began shortly before Christmas, was never serious.
A source said: 'It's all over - it was basically just a holiday romance. They have had a lot of fun together, but Lily has said it's finished.'
Lily has recently overhauled her style and shed more than 14lbs in weight, and friends claim her make-over was inspired by her desire to date Jay - the estranged husband of artist Sam Taylor-Wood.
A friend said: 'Lily had been on a mission to get Jay for more than four months.
'She never normally sticks to a diet or weight-loss plan but she was so determined to get Jay she managed it.
'She even changed her hair just for Jay.'

Beckham makes solid debut as Milan held by Roma

David Beckham was named in AC Milan's starting line-up for his Serie A debut against AS Roma at the Olympic Stadium here on Sunday but he couldn't help his side to victory in a game which ended in a 2-2 draw.
ROME (AFP) -
David Beckham was named in AC Milan's starting line-up for his Serie A debut against AS Roma at the Olympic Stadium here on Sunday but he couldn't help his side to victory in a game which ended in a 2-2 draw.
The former England skipper, on loan at the Italian giants from LA Galaxy, had been expected to be on the bench.
However, he was named by coach Carlo Ancelotti in the starting eleven in place of France midfielder Mathieu Flamini and played virtually all of the game, only being replaced by the Frenchman as he ran out of steam in the dying moments.
Brazilian teenager Pato and Montenegro forward Mirko Vucinic stole the limelight from the former Manchester United and Real Madrid man with two goals each as Milan stay third, nine points off top spot where city rivals Inter stand.
Beckham took a little time to settle before gradually becoming increasingly involved.
His first opportunity to shine could have come on five minutes after Milan won a free-kick in a dangerous position but Ronaldinho pulled rank and crashed his effort into the wall.
Thereafter Beckham showed his full range of abilities, playing one raking ball down the line to Kaka while showing his defensive skills in making a brilliant sprawling block on a John Arne Riise shot.
He also sent many dangerous crosses in from the right.
Beckham's two-month loan stint at Milan has often dominated the sports news since it was first announced back in late October.
He agreed the deal in order to keep up his match fitness during the long Major League Soccer off-season in the US in a bid to remain in England coach Fabio Capello's plans.
Having only played once since October - as a substitute against Hamburg in a friendly in Dubai a week ago - Beckham was not expected to be selected in the starting line-up.
He played only 45 minutes in Dubai and earlier this week Ancelotti gave a strong hint that he would need to be eased in gradually.
"Beckham is ready to play, but he's coming out of two months of inactivity, so it's difficult to name him as a starter (Sunday) for the match against Roma," said Ancelotti.
"He is ready to help out and at Milan we are happy he's with us even if he'll only be staying two months.
"If he then wants to stay (longer) with us, that would suit us very nicely, but his contract with the club is clear and I think he'll respect that."
The Stadio Olimpico was a near sell-out for the first match of 2009 here as fans jumped at the opportunity to see the world's most marketable football star in the flesh.
Beckham was named on the right side of a three-man midfield with playmaker Andrea Pirlo starting from deep in the centre and Dutch veteran Clarence Seedorf on the left with the much-feted Brazilian Ka-Pa-Ro triumvirate combination of Kaka, Pato and Ronaldinho up front.
Games in Italy rarely sell-out and Roma are usually lucky to half fill their stadium which seats more than 80,000 people.
Before the match started as the teams were announced over the stadium loud-speaker, Beckham's name was the one cheered the loudest by a healthy Milan travelling contingent -- even more so that that of legend Paolo Maldini -- and likewise the most vociferously jeered by the home fans.
